William Shatner weds Hoosier

Star Trek actor William Shatner and a one-time high-school homecoming queen got married this week in the central Indiana city of Lebanon, The Indianapolis Star reported.

Mr. Shatner, 69, and Elizabeth J. Martin, 42, had been the talk of the town since the pair walked into the Boone County Courthouse on Monday to pick up their marriage license.

The couple tied the knot on Tuesday, according to Ms. Martin's sister, Gayle Anderson.

“It's absolutely true,” Ms. Anderson told the Star for a report in its Thursday editions. “That's all we're saying.”

This is the fourth marriage for Mr. Shatner, who starred as Capt. James T. Kirk in the Star Trek television series and movies.

His third wife, model Nerine Kidd, drowned Aug. 9, 1999, in the swimming pool at the couple's Los Angeles home. Mr. Shatner's first two marriages ended in divorce.
