Highlands QB visits Notre Dame

Guidugli puts off decision

By Ray Schaefer
Enquirer contributor

Highlands quarterback Gino Guidugli is visiting colleges again, and he is putting off his decision on where he will play until next month.

A source close to the Bluebirds program said Wednesday Guidugli is visiting Notre Dame today and won't announce his choice until after the Highlands basketball team completes its season.

District tournaments in Kentucky begin Feb.26.

Guidugli and his father, local fitness trainer Dave Guidugli, are scheduled to return to Fort Thomas this afternoon.

On Feb.5, Guidugli announced he would attend Kentucky. But changes in the Wildcats program - including an NCAA investigation into recruiting violations and the resignation of coach Hal Mumme - caused Guidugli to back off UK.

When he committed to UK, the 6-foot-4, 215-pound Guidugli said his choice came down to UK or Cincinnati; he also had been considering North Carolina and Purdue. He still has UK on his list, and he has added Mississippi.

As a senior last season, Guidugli passed for 4,367 yards with 53 TDs and only 10 interceptions.

At the time his son committed to UK, Dave Guidugli said he had hoped Gino would attend North Carolina.
