Xavier 92, Fordham 73

NEW YORK — Jennifer Phillips scored 24 points as No.13 Xavier tied a season high in points with a 92-73 victory over Fordham Sunday.

Xavier (21-2, 11-1 Atlantic 10) opened the game with a 14-2 run to take command early. Phillips scored eight points during a 19-3 half-ending spurt as the Musketeers took a 48-25 lead at the break.

Xavier opened the second half by scoring the first 14 points to take its biggest lead, 62-25.

XU's Taru Tuukkanen added 21 points, while Nicole Levandusky and Jennifer Parr scored 13 each and point guard Reetta Piipari added 10 points and 13 assists, her seventh double-double of the year.

Xavier shot 68.6 percent from the floor and made 10-of-16 3-pointers.

UC 63, Marquette 61

UC's Merelenea Dozier hit a 3-pointer off an assist from K.B. Sharp with two seconds left to lift UC at Shoemaker Center.

Dozier, averaging just 4.9 points per game, went 5-for-9 from 3-point range and had 15 points.

“With three seconds left K.B. executed a fine art,” said UC coach Laurie Pirtle. "It was a good call by our staff and excellent execution by our players.”

Sharp dished out a game-high six assists while adding four points and a steal. Valerie King led the Bearcats with 19 points.

Cincinnati remains in second place in Conference USA's American Division with a 17-7 overall record and 7-6 league mark.
