Southern Buckeye Conference games


Batavia clinches share of title

        Craig Hennessey made seven of eight free throws in the fourth quarter and Batavia clinched at least a tie for the Southern Buckeye Conference National title with a 60-51 victory over Georgetown on Friday night.

        Batavia pulled away after Craig Waits of Georgetown fouled out with four minutes to play.

        Joe Fairs paced the Bulldogs with 19 points and Hennessey finished with 17.

        Waits paced the G-Men with 16 points.

        BATAVIA (60) — Wilson 3 2 8, Hennessey 4 9 17, Faris 8 3 19, Klump 1 0 2, Ellis 1 0 2, Mailow 3 2 8, Bailey 1 2 4. Totals: 21 18 60.

        GEORGETOWN (51) — Seesholtz 2 2 7, Dennis 4 2 12, Griffith 3 0 6, Waits 6 2 16, Bell 1 2 5, Holbrook 1 3 5. Totals: 17 11 51.

        • Williamsburg 70, Bethel-Tate 65 (OT) — Senior forward Mike McKibben scored 12 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter to help Williamsburg erase a seven-point deficit.

        Bethel-Tate senior guard Chris Gregory had a career-high seven three-pointers and scored 21.

        • Felicity 51, Hillsboro 49 — Brad Hatfield made a basket with 56 seconds to play to give Felicity a 50-49 lead and the Cardinals' first-ever win over Hillsboro.

        Hatfield finished with a game-high 24 points. Ryan Taggert made a free throw with 10 seconds to play to ice the win.

        Matt Marischen led Hillsboro with 13 points.

        • New Richmond 89, Clermont Northeastern 87 (OT) — Junior forward John McMonigle scored eight of the Lions' 10 overtime points to give the Rockets their first league loss this season.

        McMonigle scored 24 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, Matt Armburster scored 19 points and 14 rebounds, and Justin Fender scored 20 for New Richmond.

        Brian Blakley hit a 3-pointer with 4.4 seconds left to send it into overtime.

        Senior forward Scott Shepherd paced Clermont with 16 points.
