Winton Woods hits century mark
No. 1 Winton Woods set school records for 3-pointers and total points in a 100-42 rout of Northwest.
The 17-0 Warriors nailed 11 3-pointers with sophomore guard Mack Hunter sinking four while scoring a career-high 24 points, all in the second half.
Sophomore forward C.J. Anderson had a career-high 21 points.
Our kids felt they weren't getting the respect they deserved in the rankings, coach David Lumpkin said. They took it personal and they're out to prove they're a good team."
The Warriors had a reason to be miffed by this week's Ohio rankings. They stayed at No. 3, behind 17-0 Columbus Brookhaven and 14-1 Cleveland St. Ignatius, even after Ignatius' loss to Elder last week. Winton Woods got only two first-place votes to Brookhaven's 26 and Ignatius' 5.
Ryan Kelley paced the Knights with 17 points.
