A proposed $800 million light rail system drew generally good reviews from the public Thursday.

        A forum at the Mount Auburn Community Center was an opportunity for people to learn more about light rail, and to voice opinions. About 30 people attended.

        “I'm looking forward to light rail,” said Chris Moran, 59, of Westwood. “I know it's going to be difficult in the beginning, but I think it's a clean mode of transportation and it has the potential to connect the communities region by region.”

        Officials trying to develop a light rail system for Greater Cincinnati are holding several public feedback sessions.

        Thursday, members of the Interstate 71 project team from the Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments were on hand.

        Team member Debra DeCourcy explained that I-71 handles major employment hubs such as downtown Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Blue Ash.

        “Light rail is the first step in a long-range plan to address the highway's congestion problem,” she said.

        Several people voiced concern over cost, construction and the exact path of the system.

        Other scheduled forums:

        • 6-8 p.m. Feb. 15, at the Peaslee Neighborhood Center, 215 E. 14th St., Over-the-Rhine.

        • 6-8 p.m. Feb. 27 at Northern Kentucky Community Center, 824 Greenup St., Covington.
