Porn video leads to arrest

The Associated Press

MIDDLETOWN — Police arrested a West Carrollton, Ohio, man after security officers at a Meijer store said they caught him watching a pornographic video in the store's electronics department.

Gary A. Wysong, 39, was charged with pandering obscenity. He was arraigned Friday in Middletown Municipal Court and jailed on $25,000 bond.

Police said Mr. Wysong walked into the store about 4 p.m. Thursday and put a Tina Turner music video into a videocassette recorder connected to a TV on display. After the video was done, he took it out of the VCR and walked away, prompting store security officers to keep an eye on him.

Mr. Wysong went back to the VCR, this time playing a pornographic video for about five minutes, police said.

A 14-year-old boy walking past saw the screen and began backing up to get a better look. Security officers told him to “keep going” as they approached Mr. Wysong and asked him to take the tape out the VCR. Mr. Wysong refused to remove the tape and would not leave the store, according to a police report.

When asked why he played the tape in the store, Mr. Wysong told officers he didn't know what was on it. Police said a tape they found in his pocket was marked “XXX Porno.”

A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for Feb. 2.
