LEBANON — Residents' views are being sought for a comprehensive plan that will draw a map of where the city wants to go and how to get there.

        The request for input is the second step toward crafting a plan for the city. First, Cincinnati company Pflum, Klausmeier and Gehrum assembled an 18-person steering committee of residents, business people and City Council members.

        “It's important to have a vision or plan,” said Brad Knapp, a Henkle-Schueler vice president and steering committee member. “It's just as important for a community as for a company or an individual.”

        The $82,000 comprehensive plan will take about a year to complete and should look forward about 20 years.

        City Planning Director Marty Kohler said the city ran through its last plan, written in 1989, in just eight years because it has grown so quickly.

        Top issues are likely to include development and roads, Mr. Kohler said.

        The steering committee began meeting in November to define goals and objectives, said Andy Dobson of Pflum. Residents will contribute to that dialogue in public meetings tonight and Saturday.

        Pflum then will individually interview some people in the community, especially newcomers, commuters and others who might otherwise not be heard.

        Finally, Pflum will draft a plan on the land-use and infrastructure policies the city should use to reach its aims.
