Covington Catholic at Simon Kenton
WHEN/WHERE: 7:30 p.m. today, Simon Kenton HS, 1132 Madison Pike, Independence
WHAT TO WATCH: CovCath ended Conner's nine-game winning streak on Tuesday, and tonight they'll try to do the same to Simon Kenton's three-game string.
Simon Kenton (11-2) has one of Northern Kentucky's best guards in senior Jordan Stowers (14.2 ppg) and senior forward Kevin Cristello (13 ppg). The Colonels counter with juniors Brian Lewin, Greg Hiltz and Jonathan Blazejewski, who each scored 14 against Conner.
CovCath (8-4) has won its past five, while the Pioneers also are 7-1 over their past eight games. Tonight's outcome might hinge on who best gets the ball to their perimeter players.
PICK: Simon Kenton.
Scott vs. Bishop Brossart
WHEN/WHERE: 7 p.m. today, Shoemaker Center, University of Cincinnati
WHAT TO WATCH: Scott pulled the upset of the season Tuesday, knocking off No. 3 Newport Central Catholic thanks to junior center Ben Lye's 21 points and 12 rebounds.
Brossart has struggled of late. The Mustangs are 9-6, but they are 2-3 over their past five and have averaged just 46.6 points per game over that stretch.
PICK: Scott.
Conner vs. Holy Cross
WHEN/WHERE: 8:30 p.m. today, Shoemaker Center, University of Cincinnati
WHAT TO WATCH: Conner's (9-1) main goal is to contain Holy Cross senior forward Josh Beiting, who scored 23 against Ryle on Tuesday.
Holy Cross broke a six-game losing streak against Ryle, but the Indians could have trouble if they don't handle the Cougars' Terry Johnson, Marcus Johnson and Jeremy Stephenson.
PICK: Conner.
St. Henry at Boone County
WHEN/WHERE: 7:30 p.m. today Boone County HS, 7056 Burlington Pike, Florence
WHAT TO WATCH: St. Henry and Boone County are both 6-6, but the Crusaders and Rebels are heading in opposite directions. The Crusaders have lost their past two and three of the last four, while the Rebels are riding a four-game winning streak and averaging 70 points a game.
Boone County had five players in double figures in Tuesday's 67-58 win over Holmes.
St. Henry's task is to stop Boone County senior forward Ben Brown, who leads the team with 16.5 points a game. Boone County, meanwhile, must deal with St. Henry senior forward Nick Love.
PICK: Boone County.
