6 teens, friends since childhood, die in crash

        CRESTON, Ohio — Six childhood friends killed in a car crash during their holiday break from school were buried Saturday.

        The car, driven by Jeffery P. Kaufmann, 18, veered off a road and hit a tree in Canaan Township about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.

        The crash killed Mr. Kaufmann and five passengers: Cory M. Pelfrey, 18; Paul E. Marshall III, 15; Bruce T. Campbell III, 14; and sisters Christine K. Elliston, 13, and Jennifer L. Elliston, 14.
