Beatsch lifts Newport

        Six free throws and a 3-point field goal by Jessica Beatsch in the fourth quarter keyed Newport over Harrison County 59-50 in the Queen of Bluegrass Tournament at East Carter. Beatsch finisghed with 11 points.

        • Newport Central Catholic 55, Paris 53, Villa Madonna Holiday Classic — The Thoroughbreds sank 7-of-10 free throws in the fourth quarter, three by Amy Meyers, to pull out the victory.

        Erica Ziegler scored 13 points in the second half, rallying the Thoroughbreds from a six point deficit.

        Courtney Fields from Paris led all scorers with 20 points..
