Hern scores 30 as Madeira gives SCC 1st loss of season

Coming off a 24-point loss to Finneytown, the Madeira Mustangs rebounded with a vengeance Wednesday night.
A 30-point, 10-rebound performance by Rob Hern helped lift the Mustangs to a 91-74 victory over previously undefeated Springfield Catholic Central at Madeira.
Although Hern scored 19 points in the first half, Madeira led only 47-44 at halftime.
But Hern's nine third-quarter points enabled the Mustangs to open up an eight-point lead.
Free throws during the fourth quarter enabled Madeira to pull away.

• Indian Hill 48, Taylor 41 — Andrew DeBord and Ollie Kendall sealed the victory in the fourth quarter, each scoring four points.
DeBord finished with a game high of 14 points. Alex Thinnes scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Yellowjackets.

• Mariemont 77, Batavia 62 — Branden Fisher scored 13 of his 23 points and Reid Clasen had nine of his 14 in the first half to lead the Warriors.
Phil Landes added 19 points for Mariemont, including eight consecutive free throws that im proved him to 40-of-44 on the season. Matt Wilson led Batavia with 21 points.
