Grant Co. stops Boone Co. behind Shafer's 28 points

Allen Shafer scored a game-high 28 points, leading Grant County to an 83-66 victory over Boone County Wednesday night in the opening game of the Eagle Classic at Grant County.
Eldon Maddox added 14 points for Grant County.
Ben Brown led Boone County with 27 points.
Boone County meets Campbellsville at 6 p.m. today, followed by Tates Creek vs. Eagles Landing at 7:45 p.m.

Madeira 91, Springfield Catholic Central 74, at Madeira Coming off a 24-point loss to Finneytown, the Madeira Mustangs rebounded with a vengeance Wednesday night.
A 30-point, 10-rebound performance by Rob Hern helped lift the Mustangs over previously undefeated Springfield Catholic Central at Madeira.
Although Hern scored 19 points in the first half, Madeira led only 47-44 at halftime.
But Hern's nine third-quarter points enabled the Mustangs to open up an eight-point lead.
Free throws during the fourth quarter enabled Madeira to pull away.

Mariemont 77, Batavia 62 Branden Fisher scored 13 of his 23 points and Reid Clasen had nine of his 14 in the first half to lead the Warriors.
Phil Landes added 19 points for Mariemont, including eight consecutive free throws that improved him to 40-of-44 on the season. Matt Wilson led Batavia with 21 points.
