        Steve Everson rushed for 197 yards and six touchdowns.

        Everson, a junior who rushed for 1,269 yards and 16 touchdowns in the regular season, gave NewCath a 12-6 lead with touchdown runs of one and 18 yards in the first period.

        He scored twice in the second quarter — on runs of 4 and 5 yards, as NewCath opened a 34-6 lead at the break. His two touchdown runs in the third quarter completed the scoring.

        The Thoroughbreds rushed for 286 yards.

        Newport CC will face Beechwood next.
