Fall running of triathlon Sunday
Race director expects full field by race time

The Little Miami Triathlon Series is always a great challenge. This year's fall edition, to be run Sunday, also promises to be a great ride.
The conditions are absolutely perfect, said race director Gary Morgan. Usually this time of year, the river is down. But with solid soaking rains, the river is up 12 to 14 inches. It's not rip-roaring, but it's flowing really well.
The triathlon is in its 21st year. Morgan already has 450 teams registered. He expects to fill the field to its 500-team limit with race-day registration.
We closed registration through the Internet to get better organized, Morgan said.
The triathlon consists of a 6-mile canoe leg down the Little Miami, followed by a 6-mile run, then an 18-mile bike ride.
Because of the canoe leg, the triathlon is a two-person event, but each person is individually timed.
Since the spring event was so popular, a fall version was added eight years ago.
We wanted to give more people a chance to compete, Morgan said. And we wanted to give people a chance to compare their times over a six-month period.
Race-day registration begins at 7a.m. at Morgan's Fort Ancient Canoe Livery. Cost is $80 per team. Morgan's is 6 miles east of Lebanon. Take Exit 32 off I-71. Right on State Rt. 123; left on State Rt. 350. Follow 350 for about 2 miles.
