Elder-Highlands site may change
The Cincinnati Enquirer
The site for the football game between Elder and Highlands Sept.15 may be changed from David Cecil Memorial Stadium in Fort Thomas.
Because of construction of a new middle school adjacent to the high school in Fort Thomas, officials have expressed concern that the anticipated crowd may be too big to handle.
We've talked to the people at UC about using Nippert Stadium, but we haven't heard back from them, said Dale Mueller, Highlands' football coach and athletic director.
We'd like keeping the game at home, but there's just so many people who want to see it, Mueller said. If the game is moved, I'm not sure if we'll take the cannon.
After every Highlands touchdown, a cannon is fired, much to the dismay of opposing coaches, players and fans.
If the game is moved, it will eliminate a headache for me, Elder athletic director Dave Dabbelt said. I think we would have been given only 1,200 tickets.
