Skaters top 'Survivor' ratings

By John Kiesewetter
The Cincinnati Enquirer

Richard may be king of Survivor island, but he was no match for Tonya Harding.

The national and Tristate audience fell far short of the viewership for the last M*A*S*H, Super Bowls and the 1994 Winter Olympics figure skating duel between Nancy Kerrigan and Ms. Harding.

Tristate consultants here see no executive role model in Richard.
Survivor, watched by 57 percent of all viewers here, ranks ninth among Tristate TV shows since 1991. The top-rated telecast here remains the 1994 Kerrigan-Harding Olympics competition, with a 47.7 rating and 65 percent audience share.

Nationally, Survivor didn't rank on the top 10 list, which has Super Bowl XVI — featuring the Bengals versus the San Francisco 49ers back in 1982 — at No. 4.

For those who missed all or parts of Survivor, CBS will repeat it 9 p.m. Sept. 15-29 (except for Sundays) opposite NBC's Summer Olympics telecasts.
