Possible hike in state gas tax delayed
A Revenue Cabinet survey of wholesale prices tagged the average at just over $1.01 a gallon in July. A state law requirers that if wholesale prices rise above $1.11, a penny will be added to the sales tax on gas.
The state now charges 16.4 cents per gallon of gasoline and 13.4 cents per gallon of diesel fuel.
Revenue Secretary Mike Haydon said the next survey will be done in October to determine the tax rate in January.
