What's the Buzz?

Springdale Plaza bought by Ohioans

By Ken Alltucker
The Cincinnati Enquirer

A Columbus company has bought the Springdale Plaza shopping center from a New York firm for $9.7 million and plans to remodel the 1970s-era center.

Jubilee Springdale LLC is crafting a strategy to rehabilitate the 200,000-square-foot Springdale Plaza, home to retailers such as Michaels Arts & Crafts, Added Dimensions, Jenny Craig and Repp Big and Tall.

The center, managed by the Russ Group of Cincinnati, will take a big hit this fall when Burlington Coat Factory vacates an 80,000-square-foot space and moves to Forest Fair Mall.

The new owners will announce plans for Springdale Plaza in two months, possibly coinciding with Burlington's exit.

Several retailers have asked about the Burlington space, according to Mary Bittelmeyer, leasing director for the Russ Group. The center is on East Kemper Road, across from Tri-County Mall.
