Pig Parade: CPA (Certified Piglet Accountant)
Artist's dad inspired dashing pink pig
By Owen Findsen
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Artist: Lorraine Crooks, 23, Los Angeles.
Sponsor: Grant Thornton LLP.
This pig's pen: Federal Reserve Plaza.
You were inspired by: My dad who looks dashing in his pin stripes.
What's the pig idea? I was home visiting my parents in Wyoming over the holidays when I heard about the Big Pig Gig and submitted some designs. Originally I thought of the pig as a lawyer, because my dad's a lawyer, but the sponsors are accountants, so they named him. They picked the pink color for the suit.
You want people to look at this pig and: Laugh. He's ludicrous but based on the commonplace.
Completing the project took: I had to finish in 12 days so he could participate in the Flying Pig Marathon.
What's the matter?: Fiberglass, latex paint, flashing metal, briefcase and cup.
Your high on the hog was: After it was installed, I went down to do some touch-up work. I had all kinds of people asking about the pig. Why was it there? What did it mean. A lot of people had never heard of the Big Pig Gig. I had all kinds of responses. Some people asked why Cincinnati didn't do something nicer than pigs.
Pig peeve: Having such a short time to explore new materials like fiberglass.
My favorite pork dish: Bacon.
The materials cost: $500.
If your pig starred in a movie, who would you cast to play the role? Chevy Chase.
This is 68th in a series spotlighting pigs from the Big Pig Gig Public Art Project taking place in Cincinnati, Covington and Newport. Find past pig profiles at enquirer.com. Click on the Big Pig Gig icon.
