Ky. Speedway announces parking plan

SPARTA, Ky. — Kentucky Speedway chairman Jerry Carroll said Thursday that the track will add three emergency parking areas with gravel entrances, and the capacity to handle a total of 10,000 cars will be added.

Last Saturday, thousand of fans were turned away from a NASCAR Craftsman Truck race because three grass parking lots were washed out by heavy rain.

Carroll said he expects a crowd approaching 30,000 for his next event, an ARCA stock car race July2.

The speedway also said Winston Cup drivers Jeremy Mayfield, Steve Park, Michael Waltrip and Kenny Wallace will participate in a “Legends” race at the track as part of the July 1-2 weekend.
