Man arrested in clerk's beating

        HAMILTON — A Hamilton man was charged with beating a gas station clerk, after tipsters saw his face in news reports about the attack, police said.

        Brandon Newberry, 21, faces charges of aggravated robbery and felonious assault. Police say he's the man pictured on store surveillance footage repeatedly striking the clerk with a crowbar early Sunday at a Shell station on Compton Road in Colerain Township.

        The clerk, who , walks with difficulty and uses a cane, hit back at the robber with his cane as the robber fled the store. He is recovering at home from the beating.

        Mr. Newberry, of Brown Farm Drive, was arrested by Hamilton County sheriff's deputies about 3 a.m. at an apartment on Mason Road in Hamilton.
