By
EVENDALE Employees of General Electric Aircraft Engines crisscrossed Greater Cincinnati on Thursday bearing gifts checks.
GE spokeswoman Paula Kollstedt said more than $300,000 was distributed to local nonprofit and charitable organizations, including one of four quarterly checks of $106,250 to United Way from the GE fund.
Along with employee contributions, the company contributes about $2 million annually to United Way of Cincinnati, Ms. Kollstedt said.
The remaining $197,550 distributed Thursday represents the company's match of employee and retiree gifts to other organizations, including schools and universities. GE matches employees' alumni contributions.

But police said they saw no one with a gun in the school and found two toy guns outside the school.
At 2:47 p.m., police went to Vail after receiving the call.
School had been dismissed at 2:15 p.m., but about 75 students remained inside for a talent show practice.
Several witnesses are being questioned, and the matter is under investigation, police said.

St. Bernard Police Chief Steve Moeller said the 8:15 p.m. accident remains under investigation.

One witness told police a car may have pulled in front of the truck. The entire rig flipped onto its top as it went over the guardrail and down the embankment.
Man admits touching, videotaping daughter
LEBANON A 47-year-old father of three admitted Thursday that he set up a camera in his young daughter's room and videotaped her nude over a period of 10 years.
Appearing in Warren County Common Pleas Court, the man pleaded guilty to two counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material and two counts of gross sexual imposition for touching the girl while she was asleep.
The Enquirer is not naming the man to protect the identity of the girl, who is now 21.
Warren County Prosecutor Tim Oliver said the man and his wife had separated, and she found the videotapes, which had been made since 1988.
In an agreement with prosecutors, the man is expected to serve six months on work release in the county and then remain on probation for five years.
The man remains jailed on a $50,000 bond until a sentencing hearing next month.
