By Owen Findsen
The Cincinnati Enquirer

Artist: Designed by Teddy Lutz, 11; created by sixth- to eighth-graders at Indian Hill Middle School, Heather Bollen, art teacher. It's one of two pigs being done by the school.

        Sponsor: Spectrum Marketing Support Inc.

        This pig's pen: TBA.

You were inspired by: “I keep a lot of posters by women artists on the walls of the art room. This pig looks like a work by Elizabeth Murray because it's such bold colors,” Ms. Bollen says.

You want people to look at this pig and think: “There are Etch-a-Sketches embedded in the sides, so people can be mesmerized by the designs and then make their own design on the Etch-a-Sketch.”

Completing the project took: About six hours a day for three weeks.

Swine over matter: Regular acrylic house paint.

Your high on the hog was: “It's a standing pig, and we did a lot of work on it lying down. The day we put it up on its feet was the coolest thing, but they had to be really careful not to knock it over.”

Pig peeve: “Because we were painting in the classroom, we had to use regular house paint, and it's pretty thin, so it took six or seven coats to get a nice bright color. They got a little tired of painting the same thing over and over.”

Best pig tale: “Every year we take the kids to Chicago, so they saw all the cows that Chicago did, and so they're really excited about seeing their work outside with all the others.”

What do you call this pig: “The kids call it the Etch-a-Sketch pig,” Ms. Bollen says.
