Local boxer qualifies for Olympics
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Cincinnati boxer Dante Craig, who had already earned a berth on the U.S. team, formally qualified for the Sydney Olympics at an Americas qualifying tournament in Tijuana, Mexico.
Craig, 21, a Woodward High graduate, beat Yovanny Lorenzo of the Dominican Republic 16-3.
I knew deep down inside that coming to Mexixo was best for me, Craig said. It has been a grueling experience, but I know that I'll come out better because of it. I've been dreaming about this for a long time, and I just had to wait a bit longer before it came true.
Another Cincinnati boxer, Ricardo Williams, had already qualified.
