Detroit extends agreement with Ducks

Cincinnati Mighty Ducks general manager David McNab announced Sunday the team will continue its partial affiliation with NHL Detroit next season.

Cincinnati is the top affiliate for Anaheim, but also develops several players for the Red Wings. Ducks goalie Aren Miller, defensemen Jiri Fischer and Jesse Wallin and forwards Darryl Laplante, Yuri Butsayev and B.J. Young each earned promotions to Detroit this season, which ended for Cincinnati Sunday. All but Miller and Young are currently with the Red Wings.

“The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and Detroit Red Wings are both committed to building a winning tradition in Cincinnati,” McNab said. “We're very excited to have Detroit back with us next season.”

Detroit Assistant GM Jim Nill, at Sunday's game, said he also is pleased with the announcement.
