Looking for Diabolical 18
The Cincinnati Enquirer
The Enquirer is searching for the toughest, curse-out-loud public golf holes in the Tristate and asking for our readers' help.
The three readers who match the highest number of holes selected as the toughest by Enquirer reporter John Erardi will be asked to play our Diabolical 18 on Monday, April 10 (weather permitting).
That round of golf will be a feature story Erardi will write for publication.
You will play those 18 holes all in one day. Be sure to put aside an entire day dawn to dusk because you'll need lots of time to play all 18.
For identification purposes, give us the name of the course and the number of the hole or holes. For example: No.8 at So-and-So Golf Course or No.6 and No.13 at Such-and-So Golf Course. Any entries with more than 18 holes will be automatically disqualified.
Note: we are searching for the 18 most diabolical holes not the most unfair or the worst-designed or the 18 that you'd like to target with B-52 bombers. We want legitimate golf holes, be they par 3's, 4's or 5's. Length of the hole is only one determining factor. So are degree of difficulty, shot selection, risk/reward and the nature and quality of hazards, be they off the tee or around the green. Slopes and size of the greens can be a factor, too.
Your deadline for submitting that list to The Enquirer is Tuesday. You can:
E-mail us at sports@enquirer.com.
Fax (513) 768-8550
Or mail to Diabolical 18, Attn: Ken Sain, Sports Department, The Cincinnati Enquirer, 312 Elm St., Cinti, OH 45202.
Be sure to include your phone number so we can make arrangements to go play.
