Buses to continue on routes
Butler Co. service popular

FAIRFIELD Two popular bus routes in Fairfield and Union Township that were scheduled to end after Fort Washington Way construction concludes in August will continue.
The city of Fairfield and the Butler County Regional Transit Authority (BCRTA) will pay the $137,000 needed to continue Metro's Route 62 bus service for at least another year.
Leslie Ann Barden, who rides the Route 62 bus from her Fairfield home to her job downtown, is excited that the service will continue.
It's just wonderful. You don't have to worry about traffic. You can't beat it, Mrs. Barden said.
Union Township and BCRTA also will team up to provide $113,000 to continue Metro's Route 42 service, which has been funded by the Ohio Department of Transportation since 1998 as part of Fort Washington Way construction.
Union Township is a growing area and our residents are well-served by the Route 42 service. We're pleased to be able to continue offering this transportation option to them, Union Township Administrator Dave Gully said.
Metro has a similar funding arrangement with Warren County, including Mason and Deerfield Township, and Hamilton County for its Interstate 71 service.
Paul Jablonski, Metro general manager, said continuing both routes is important because commuters use the bus service when it is offered.
Both the service to (Union Township) and Fairfield have been growing steadily in the past year and a half, Mr. Jablonski said, and we expect to see further increase. We are committed to continuing to find regional solutions.
Metro provides 29 million rides per year in Greater Cincinnati.
