Elder, St. X go at it again

The rubber match between St. Xavier (23-2) and Elder (19-4) at 6:15 p.m. Thursday highlights the boys regional tournaments this week at the University of Dayton Arena and Wright State University's Nutter Center.

During the regular season, St. Xavier defeated Elder 46-42 at home, and Elder beat the Bombers 48-45 in The Pit.

Hamilton (14-11), a team that struggled to an early 6-10 record but won seven of its next eight games, meets Beavercreek (24-1) at 8 p.m. in the other Division I semifinal Thursday at the UD Arena.

The Division III regional semifinal game at Wright State between Madeira (20-3) and Jamestown Greeneview (20-4), originally scheduled for Thursday, has been moved to 6:15 p.m. Wednesday.

“The OHSAA made the change because Madeira's girls team plays on Thursday in the state semifinals,” regional tournament director Rob Duerkle said. “The date of the regional championship remains the same (noon Saturday).”

Also in Division III, Eastern Brown (23-0) will play Malvern (20-4) at 6:15 p.m. Thursday at Ohio University in Athens.

The Division II regional semifinal between Purcell Mari an (21-3) and Columbus Bishop Watterson (16-7) was rescheduled from Wednesday to 6:15 p.m. Thursday at Wright State.
