Springboro guts out district title

        VANDALIA, Ohio — Springboro scored the game's last six points to pull away from Dayton Dunbar for a 48-41 victory in a Division II district championship game at the Vandalia Butler Student Activity Center Friday night.

        The district championship is Springboro's first since 1984. The Panthers will play Hamilton Badin in the regional semifinals on Tuesday at Vandalia.

        The Panthers trailed much of the game, but Brianne Kees made a steal that led to a Lindsay Wight's layup and gave Springboro the lead for good, 42-41 with 1:30 to play.

        “This is the most amazing group of girls I have ever coached,” 18-year veteran Rick Creager said, “They never quit and always find a way to get things done.”

        Wight led Springboro with 20 points and 16 rebounds, her fourth consecutive double-double in the tournament.

        • Milford Christian 60, Temple Christian 40 — Ed Barclay scored 13 points, and Jimmy Rulapaugh added 10 rebounds and five blocks to lead Milford Christian to its sixth straight win.

        Josh Carter paced Temple with 21 points.
