FRANKLIN Two former Lebanon administrators and Cincinnati attorney Chuck Stidham are among 26 people vying to be Franklin's new assistant city manager.
City officials are considering several people for the post, including Ed Patterson, former Lebanon deputy city managerr.
Sherry Callahan, who was assistant to the city manager in Lebanon until last month, also applied for the Franklin job. She and Mr. Patterson saw their jobs eliminated in a cost-cutting move by Lebanon council late last year.
Franklin officials would not say which five applicants they have interviewed, but Mr. Patterson said Friday he is one.
I don't know where I stand, he said. I know a lot of the people in Franklin. I think it's a good package for both.
Franklin City Manager Jim Lukas said the new assistant manager will handle personnel issues, department review, financial forecasting and perhaps economic development. The salary range for the job is $38,500 to $44,600.
No timetable exists for making a decision.
Mr. Patterson was Lebanon's acting city manager for parts of 1998 and 1999 before becoming deputy city manager in July. He is a former Lebanon mayor and councilman.
Mrs. Callahan, who has a master's degree in public administration, had been Lebanon's assistant to the city manager since 1990. She previously held a similar position in Springboro.
Mr. Stidham, a lawyer since 1983, ran for Congress in 1988.
Neither he nor Mrs. Callahan could be reached Friday.
