Lakota West makes sectional final

OXFORD Lakota West's 47-42 sectional semifinal win Thursday night over Talawanda at Millett Hall followed the Firebirds' regular-season pattern: It wasn't pretty, but in the end, the Lakota West seniors made the plays to win the game.
West advanced to the sectional finals for the first time in school history to play Princeton at 6:30p.m. Monday at Millett Hall. Princeton beat Aiken 66-54.
Lakota West seniors accounted for all but one of the team's points against Talawanda.
We're a senior-dominated team, Lakota West coach Mike Mueller said. I thought our kids played some of our best basketball after the score was tied at 38.
With West leading 41-39, Jamie Chaney tracked down an offensive rebound off a missed free throw and passed to fellow senior Andy Dunn, who was fouled and sank both shots.
After a Talawanda 3-pointer, Dunn and Chaney stepped up again.
This time Dunn penetrated through the Talawanda traps and found Chaney alone underneath the basket for a layup.
Talawanda missed a 3-pointer in the closing seconds. Chaney collected the rebound and clinched the win by sinking two free throws.
Chaney scored four points and grabbed two rebounds in the game's final 1:12.
I don't think you can do more good things (at the end of the game) than Chaney did, Mueller said.
