Stadium construction will chew up some riverfront parking lots starting this week, but it shouldn't inconvenience downtown workers and visitors much.
Beginning Wednesday, people who usually park in surface lots 1, 2, and 4 south of Pete Rose Way at Stadium Drive will be moved to Cinergy Field Plaza, officials from the city of Cincinnati and Hamilton County announced.
Drivers also will be able to park along Stadium Drive between Mehring Way and Pete Rose Way.
The Cinergy Field Plaza level has been restriped to provide parking for 753 cars on non-Cincinnati Reds game days. Twenty-eight spaces will be provided for the disabled. On game days, an estimated 400 spaces will be available, including spaces for the disabled and for buses.
Central Parking System will operate, manage and maintain Cinergy Field Plaza and the new surface lots. Monthly parking rates will not be affected. The rate for nonmonthly parking is $3 per day.
This is just the first of many steps by the county and city to maintain parking along the riverfront during construction, Terry Evans, assistant director of stadium development for Hamilton County, said in a statement.
Motorists can get to the Cinergy Field Plaza parking lot by using Hammond Street off Sycamore or Main streets.
To exit, follow the Roebling Suspension Bridge approach to Levee Way.
The bus taxiway off Atrium I and II, and the pedestrian bridge off 312 Walnut St., will remain open. Surface lots 3 and 5 along Pete Rose Way also will remain open.
