Cammys honors career of Big Joe Duskin

BY LARRY NAGER
The Cincinnati Enquirer

The King of Cincinnati Boogie Woogie is the winner of the fourth annual Michael W. Bany Lifetime Achievement Award.

Internationally acclaimed blues pianist Big Joe Duskin, who has performed at clubs and festivals worldwide, will be honored March 12 at the Enquirer's Cincinnati Area Pop Music Awards. The Cammys will take place at Electra, 1133 Sycamore St., Over-the-Rhine.

Mr. Duskin will be part of a program hosted by singer/comedian Blair Shannon that includes performances by Keith Little and the Shades of Blue Band, Ass Ponys, Leap Skyward, Scotty Anderson with the Steve Schmidt Organ Trio, Fairmount Girls, a bluegrass jam with members of Kentucky 31 and the Comet All-Stars and 15-year-old guitarist Ricky Veeneman.

A second Lifetime Achievement Award winner will be announced next Sunday in Tempo.

Only 700 of the $12.50 tickets remain at Ticketmaster outlets (562-4949). The entire ticket price goes to the Michael W. Bany Memorial Scholarship Fund, which helps local music students. The Cammy awards concert sold out in 1998 and 1999.
