Riverbend VIPs will find suite surprises

BY JANELLE GELFAND

Riverbend Music Center will give its VIP subscribers the star treatment this summer.

New VIP Box Suites and a Backstage Bar catering to VIP Box Suite and Gold Seat patrons are part of $600,000 in improvements that will be in place when the Riverbend season opens in May.

There's more. The pavilion will sport newly refurbished seats — with cup-holders. A new sound system and new landscaping will be added for lawn patrons.

The improvements come one year after the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, which owns Riverbend, made $2 million in improvements to the outdoor venue.

The addition of box seats was a response to customer demand, says Mike Smith, Riverbend general manager.

“It's the standard now, from arenas to the Aronoff Center, and it was a natural improvement for us to make,” Mr. Smith says. “It's a recognition that companies and individuals appreciate that level of quality and service.”

Personalized name plates will identify 44 VIP Box Suites, located in the pavilion's center. Each box will seat four. Patrons will have access to the new Backstage Bar, located to the right of the stage, and its private restrooms.

Like Gold Seat ticket holders, Box Suite patrons will gain admission to every Riverbend concert, contemporary as well as CSO and Pops.

Gold Seat, Box Suite and RSViP Season Ticket patrons will have access to the RSViP Restaurant and Club and receive priority parking passes.

“When you get down to it, we've never had as many seating options,” Mr. Smith says.

The improvements were made possible by a capital improvements grant to the CSO from the State of Ohio.
