Krift's shot lifts Campbell County

The Cincinnati Enquirer

        Brett Krift made a shot with 8.6 seconds to play as Campbell County beat Harrison County 51-50 Tuesday night.

        Krift scored all five of his points in the final three minutes of the game. Kevin Reinhart led all scorers with 21 points.

        • Silver Grove 85, Dayton 69 — Jimmy Horstman led Silver Grove with 11 fourth-quarter points, and Woody Richmond added three 3-pointers in the quarter to break open the game. Horstman finished with a game-high 25 points. Silver Grove outscored Dayton 33-19 in the fourth.

        Chad McCarter had 23 points and Richmond added 16 for the Big Trains.

        • Newport 81, Beechwood 71, OT — Thomas Petty led Newport with seven points in overtime and 22 points for the game.

        Newport led by two with two seconds left in regulation when Beechwood's John Kerns stepped to the line for two shots. He missed the first, then intentionally missed the second. The rebound went to Sean Stowers, who hit a 15-footer.

        • Conner 77, Boone County 40 — Conner used a 10-0 run midway through the second quarter to pull away in a game that determined the No.3 seed in the 33rd District tournament.

        Jason Hudgens sank two 3-pointers during the spurt and finished with a game-high 19 points. Jeremy Stephenson added 13 points.

        • Holmes 74, Ryle 45 — Al Huff and Marco Hallman each scored seven points in the first quarter as Holmes jumped out to a 31-5 lead.

        Huff, a senior point guard, finished with 13 points and five assists to lead four Holmes players in double figures. Hallman had 12 points.

        • Newport Central Catholic 71, Dixie Heights 65 — Ronny Dawn scored seven points in the fourth quarter, including four pressure free throws, enabling the Thoroughbreds to hold off the Colonels.

        Dixie Heights trailed 50-39 entering the fourth quarter and rallied within two behind Brian Kampe (seven points) and Kyle Howard (nine points).

        Then Dawn stepped up to help NewCath seal the win.

        Jeff Eisenmenger made five of seven free throws down the stretch in the fourth quarter to keep it close. Chris Thompson paced Scott with 19 points.
