Alter upsets No. 1 Purcell Marian

The Cincinnati Enquirer

        Mark Borland scored 23 points and helped Kettering Alter handle Purcell Marian's pressure defense in a 65-62 Alter victory over the city's No.1 team in the Enquirer Division II-IV poll.

        Alter led by five points going into the fourth quarter and built that lead to as many as nine.

        Purcell's Keith Jackson had 32 points including 14 in the fourth period. Purcell already had clinched GCL North title.

        Alter played without 6-foot-8 center Adam Waleskowski, who was serving the second game of a two-game suspension. The victory was Alter's fourth in a row and avenged a loss earlier in the year at Purcell.

        • Lockland 65, North College Hill 58 — Freshman point guard Mike Daniels scored 14 of his 20 points after halftime, helping Lockland overcome a 31-29 halftime deficit.

        Daniels spent most of the second quarter on the bench with three fouls, but had six points in the third quarter and then eight in the final period, including 6-of-7 foul shots to help Lockland protect its lead.

        DeShawn Wynn added 17 points for Lockland, while Will Munlin added 15. Sophomore guard Duron Moore led NCH with 19 points.

        Chaminade went into halftime with a 29-27 lead, but St. Xavier switched to a zone with big man Jordan Cornette up front and limited the Eagles to six second half points.

        Chaminade made 9-of-11 3-point attempts in the first half to take the lead. Steve Callahan added 11 points for. St. Xavier while Terry Angel paced Chaminade with 19 poins.
