INDUSTRY NOTES: REAL ESTATE

White Con. rebuilding progressing

BY JOHN J. BYCZKOWSKI
The Cincinnati Enquirer

If things appear quiet in the reconstruction of the White Consolidated building on Pete Rose Way, be advised that they are not, Nancy Ryan of Cincinnati Commercial Realtors said.

“It's trucking along,” Ms. Ryan said, and the building is on schedule to open in December 2000.

Reconstruction of the building, which overlooks Bicentennial Commons, downtown, has been a huge undertaking. The building has been skinned and gutted. Ms. Ryan said much of the work recently has been fine interior concrete work, and the roof is being finished. The building will soon be surrounded by scaffolding and enclosed in plastic, so that exterior glass can be attached and interior work can begin.

Real estate women elect officers
The local chapter of CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women) elected officers for 2000. They are:

        • President: Maureen Dunne, Firstar Bank.

        • President-elect: Nina Marx, Strauss & Troy.

        • Secretary: Sandy Nunn, Frost & Jacobs.

        • Treasurer: Sylvia VanLovern, Fifth Third Bank.

        • Trustees: Ruth Brunner of Chicago Title Insurance and Cynthia Buc co of Property Advisers.

The 6-year-old Greater Cincinnati chapter has 99 members. For membership information, contact Maureen Hands at (513) 762-8212.

Dobbs signs lease for Erlanger space
Dobbs International Services, which provides catering to airlines, has signed a three-year lease on 10,000 square feet at 1310 Cox Ave. in Erlanger. Dobbs is relocating from the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.

Jeffrey Bender and Elizabeth Moning represented both sides.

Real estate, construction jobs plentiful, state says
Jobwise, it's not been a bad year in real estate.

According to Southwest Ohio figures from the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services, there were 9,200 jobs in real estate in November, up 200 from a year earlier.

Construction was better: up 1,500 in November compared with a year earlier, at 41,000.
