Stowers leads Simon Kenton to 5th victory

        Jordan Stowers scored 16 points to lead three Simon Kenton players in double figures as the Pioneers defeated Sheldon Clark 83-51 in boys basketball Saturday at Inez.

        Simon Kenton used a fullcourt press to take a 35-20 halftime lead and never trailed in the second half.

        The Pioneers, ranked No.9 in the Enquirer's coaches poll, have won five of their first six games.

        • Newport Central Catholic 65, Fleming County 42 — Ronny Dawn scored a game-high 18 points, and Seth Lynn added 11 to lead Newport Central Catholic.

        Bradley McKee paced Fleming County with 13 points.

        Tied 23-23 late in the second quarter, Seth Lynn hit a 3-pointer to put NCC ahead for good.

        NCC would go on to outscore Fleming County 35-19 in the second half to seal the victory.

        Senior center Ryan Wilson dominated the paint for Lloyd, totaling 24 points and 17 rebounds. Jordan Owens led St.Patrick with 14 points.
