After 12 tries, finally, CCD beats NCH

        Cincinnati Country Day's boys basketball team for all its accomplishments this decade has never beaten North College Hill since the Trojans joined the Miami Valley Conference six years ago. Until Saturday night.

        CCD got 20 points from Matt Cohen en route to a 63-44 win over NCH, snapping its 12-game losing streak to the Trojans.

        Cohen scored nine points in the second quarter when CCD outscored the Trojans 23-12 to take control. Chris Torlone added 12 points.

        • St. Xavier 67, Hughes 46 — St. Xavier held the Big Red to 32 percent shooting from the field en route to its sixth consecutive win.

        The Bombers, ranked No. 4 in the Enquirer's Division I coaches poll, took an 18-9 first-quarter lead and were never challenged.

        Backup guard Michael Graham led St. X with 11 points. Andy Larkin and Alex Bast each added nine points.

        • Anderson 61, McNicholas 60 — Kenny Riddell hit a 10-foot jumper with 3.6 seconds left to lift Anderson to the upset victory.

        The Redskins squandered a 13-point halftime lead before recovering to win. Riddell finished with 23 points and five assists. Pete Cory added 22 points for Anderson.

        Lima won the game at the free-throw line, coverting 18-of-26 attempts.

        Mike Huesman scored 12 points and Adam Meranda added 10 for the Eagles. Tyler Cox scored a game-high 16 points for Franklin.

        Billy Theifing scored a game-high 16 points for the Trojans, and Gesell added 11. Matthew Robbins led Batesville with 13 points.

        Zak Kirchgassner had six assists for East Central, and which tied the career school record mark of 309 set by Brett Snodgrass.

        • Deer Park 66, Landmark 36, — Deer Park used a full-court press and five 3-pointers in the first half to take a 41-13 halftime lead.

        The Wildcats made nine 3-pointers in the game.

        Jeff Montgomery and Cory Burke each scored 12 points to lead Deer Park. Justin Dennis added 11.

        Senior guard Gary Byrd paced Landmark with 11 points.
