Miami's Cohen MAC's top defender
Miami linebacker Dustin Cohen, a senior from Summit Country Day, was named the Mid-American Conference defensive player of the year for the second straight year.
Cohen was second in the MAC with 138 tackles in 11 games, tied for fourth in sacks with nine and was tied for fifth in tackles for a loss with 19. He also intercepted three passes, returning one for a touchdown.
Marshall quarterback Chad Pennington was named the of fensive player of the year.
Akron running back Brandon Payne was freshman of the year.
