NKU 64, Wisconsin-Stevens Point 60




        HIGHLAND HEIGHTS — Junior guard Brian Lawhon scored 25 points Saturday night as Northern Kentucky University defeated Wisconsin-Stevens Point 64-60 in the championship game of the John L. Griffin/Lions Club Classic in Regents Hall.

        Lawhon, a graduate of Sycamore High School, made seven 3-pointers as NKU improved to 2-0. Lawhon and teammate Billy Brewster (12 points) earned all-tournament honors, and NKU guard Craig Conley was named the tournament's best defensive player.

        For the game, NKU made 11-of-25 3-point attempts. The Norse also forced 18 turnovers.

        UWSP was led by tournament most valuable player Brant Bailey, who scored 23 points and had 9 rebounds.

        NKU will play Shawnee State University at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday night in Regents Hall.
