Bellevue 55, Paris 20

At Bellevue — Junior James Delaney scored five touchdowns and compiled 233 yards of total offense to lead Bellevue to an 11-0 record for the first time since 1951.

“We've had teams that won more than 11 games, but we haven't been 11-0 since then,” coach Charlie Coleman said.

Bellevue advances to the second round of the Class A playoffs. The Tigers will face Newport Central Catholic, a team they beat, 37-23, in the ninth week of the regular season.

The Tigers jumped out to a 33-0 lead on Delaney's 85-yard return of a pass interception in the second quarter. That was his third touchdown of the first half.

Delaney gained 147 yards rushing on nine carries and caught two passes for 86 yards.

Junior quarterback Nate Berkley was 10-for-13 for 176 yards and a touchdown as Bellevue compiled 517 yards of total offense.

“That was probably our best game of the year,” Coleman said. “We expected and thought we could run the ball, but what we did exceeded expectations.”
