• WHAT TO WATCH: Last year, all four local Class AAA beat their counterparts from the region's other district in playoff openers. The toughest task — a fourth seed going on the road to beat a No. 1 seed — falls this time to Holmes.
Franklin County, ranked 11th in AAA, outscored opponents by an average of 32-10 this fall. Its only setback was a last-minute loss to Ryle.
Though Holmes lost three in a row before beating Scott last Friday, it toughened itself against the state's best teams. The Bulldogs will be helped by senior RB Eddie Bane, who returned from an injury to rush for 93 yards last week. He has 1,085 yards this fall.
