Garrard Co. (6-4) at Newport (9-1)

Today's N.Ky. playoff matchup

        • WHEN: 8 p.m. today

        • WHERE: Newport High School, 900 E. 6th St., Newport

        • WHAT TO WATCH: If Newport reaches the state finals, it will have earned it. Should it win tonight, it likely would face the state's No. 2 team, Lexington Catholic, next week. The No. 1 team, Boyle County, would likely follow, then either No. 3 Middlesboro or No. 4 Breathitt County in the semifinals.

Newport has rushed for 3,005 yards and could soon break the school's single-season mark of 3,153 set last year.

        ,

        • PICK: Newport
