LOUISVILLE 3, MIGHTY DUCKS 2
Ferguson hat trick tops Ducks

The Louisville Panthers showed the Mighty Ducks and their 5,477 fans the rebounding battle is just as important in hockey as it is in basketball Saturday night at the Gardens.
Louisville's 3-2 overtime victory over Cincinnati dropped the home team to 1-2-0-1.
Craig Ferguson scored all three goals for Louisville (3-3-0-0), all on rebound shots, and the Panthers' defense stopped any Ducks hunting for second-chance opportunitites. Cincinnati outshot Louisville, 35-27, but that meant little when only two of those shots found the net.
We've got some guys who have to start scoring some goals around here, Cincinnati coach Moe Mantha said. We outshoot a team 11-2 in the first period and we're still tied 0-0. Someone's got to start scoring.
Ferguson's hat trick gives him six goals for the season, placing him in the team lead in that category and among the top scorers in the AHL.
Cincinnati's Bob Wren scored, on a rebound shot, with only four seconds left in regulation to send the game into the extra session. Wren's goal was his second in two nights.
Cincinnati scored first for the first time this year. Midway through the second period, defender Dan Trebil scored his first goal of the season when he ripped a shot from the Mighty Ducks logo near center ice. Goaltender Greg Naumenko got his first career assist on the play, but it couldn't make up for the loss.
Our defense did a good job of clearing guys out and holding them up, said Naumenko, who stopped 24 shots. I got good looks. I should have stopped a couple of those.
