CHICAGO 3, CYCLONES 0
CHICAGO The Cincinnati Cyclones game at Allstate Arena was the home opener for the Chicago Wolves, but it was more like a homecoming in a 3-0 defeat.
Cyclones goaltender Mark Fitzpatrick played solidly in his first game in the Windy City in several months, stopping 26 shots.
Fitzpatrick played for the NHL Chicago Blackhawks last season, posting a 6-8-6 record with a 2.74 goals against average in 27 games.
Cyclones rookie defenseman Nikos Tselios, a native of nearby Oak Park, also turned in a solid defensive effort.
Wolves goalie Wendell Young, a veteran NHL netminder, kicked away all 25 shots to pick up his second win and first shutout.
Losing a game like this is frustrating, Cyclones coach Ron Smith said. Our guys worked hard.
The loss drops Cincinnati to 1-3-2. Chicago improved to 4-2-0.
