CYCLONES 3, MANITOBA 2

WINNIPEG, Manitoba — The Cincinnati Cyclones aren't afraid of working overtime this season. Friday night, the Cyclones claimed a 3-2 IHL shootout win over the Manitoba Moose at the Winnipeg Arena.

It was the third time in five games that the club needed an extra session to decide a game.

Goaltender Randy Petruk, making his Cyclones debut, kicked away 33 shots in regulation and six of seven in the shootout to pick up the victory.

Center Stefan Ustorf and left wing Gilbert Dionne scored in the overtime session to give Cincinnati its first victory this season.

“It's great to be able to get a win in a place where the visitors don't win often,” Cyclones coach Ron Smith said. “We got off to a slow start and maybe this will get us pointed in the right direction. This was a good defensive effort by our guys tonight.”
