Former basketball player sentenced for sexual battery

        Shawn Myrick, a former University of Cincinnati basketball player, was sentenced Friday to six months in jail for sexual battery.

        Mr. Myrick was accused of having sex with a woman who did not give her consent on Dec. 13. According to an indictment, Mr. Myrick knew the woman's ability to control her conduct was “substantially impaired.” He was charged with sexual battery and faced up to five years in prison.

        Hamilton County Common Pleas Court Judge Fred Cartolano sentenced Mr. Myrick to 180 days jail, three years probation and and 300 hours of community service, according to the prosecutor's office.

        Mr. Myrick, a Maysville, Ky. native, played two seasonson the Bearcat basketball team.
