Test score may make UK's Estill ineligible
Enquirer news services
LEXINGTON, Ky. Kentucky basketball recruit Marquis Estill will be academically ineligible to play next season unless he receives permission to retake a test and meets the required score.
Estill, a 6-foot-9 forward-center, is one point shy of the ACT score required for NCAA eligibility.
Estill could receive another chance to take the test, said Allen Feldhaus Jr., his coach at Madison Central High School in Richmond.
If Estill is tested and found to have a learning disability, Kentucky could ask the NCAA to allow Estill to take the ACT again. If not, Estill would be a partial qualifier since he has met the required core grade-point average, Feldhaus said.
As a partial qualifier, Estill would be allowed to enroll at Kentucky, receive a financial scholarship, practice with the team and sit on the bench for home games his first year.
